3 candidates for Armenian ombudsman officially nominated
Three candidates for Armenia’s Human Right Defender (Ombudsman) have been proposed to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. These candidates are Arman Tatoyan nominated by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction, Zaruhi Postanjyan nominated by MP Edmon Marukyan, and human rights activist Narek Aloyan proposed by MP Tigran Urikhanyan, Panorama.am learned from the Standing Committee.
Urikhanyan proposed his candidate just before the deadline for candidates’ nomination. Urikhanyan, a former member of the parliament’s ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction, is now a member of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs so he has the right to nominate a candidate.
Naira Zohrabyan of that faction earlier said that Tigran Urikhanyan broke their agreement by proposing his candidate instead of Makar Yeghiazaryan, the candidate of ‘Prosperous Armenia’.
The deadline for nomination of candidates ended at 6:00 pm today. A discussion related to the candidates is due in NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs on February 12.
