Sergey Minasyan: Is it right to avoid initiatives, which are out of Minsk Group's framework?
"Is it right to avoid any initiative, which is out of the framework of the Minsk group and if it comes to political and military spheres should not we take the initiatives?"- said the deputy director of the Caucasus Institute, PhD, Sergey Minasyan during the round table titled "Political significance of the resolutions on Nagorno-Karabakh accepted in the European structures".
Sergey Minasyan thinks that if the resolutions do not bring any positive developments in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and in the negotiation process, Armenian side should avoid them. "Does this mean that we should not work at all in the different international platforms? No, we should work there. However, we should also realize that these kind of resolutions will have no influence on the negotiation process"-he said.
Minasyan stated that even if there will be dozens of anti-Armenian resolutions, they would not bring to the escalation of the military operations by Azerbaijan. He thinks that Azerbaijan does not launch military operations because of some restraining factors, such as the involvement of the OSCE Minsk group in the conflict.
"Conversely, once Azerbaijan decides to launch military operations, it will not need any legal or political grounds"- said Minasyan.
Minasyan thinks that although such anti-Armenian resolutions in PACE are not desirable, the resolutions will not affect the military and political situation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
