Gohar Iskandaryan: Iran is an active player in the international economy
“It is logical that an interest towards Iran is continuingly growing,”- said senior researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences, Ph.D., associate professor, Gohar Iskandaryan. She also stated that after lifting the sanctions, Iran enters international trade market and becomes an active player there.
“Iran also enters into the international politics. It has already signed a treaty with Austria and has flights to Japan. Iran is ready to remove its laurels of victory”- said Iskandaryan.
Ms. Iskandaryan highlighted Iran’s active behavior in the region , particularly towards Armenia and Georgia. She also mentioned that there is a desire to establish visa-free regime among these countries.
“A number of projects between Iran and Armenia, which were delayed because of lack of funds, will be implemented. Iran-Armenian railway project is very important. Iran would be able to construct 60 km of the railway to our border. However, Armenia needs financial donors for constructing 400 km of the railway”-said Iskandaryan. She also stated that the leadership of Armenia has political will to construct that railway.
Iskandaryan stressed that Armenia should take into consideration the fact that although there are 600 types of Iranian goods imported in Armenia; Armenia exports only 100 types of goods to Iran.
Iskadaryan noted that Iran was a mediator in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its active participation brought positive results in the conflict resolution process. “Iran also wants a peaceful resolution to the conflict, since it does not need military operations near its borders”- said Iskandaryan.
