The Last Time Officials Handed over to the Central Depository of Armenia Gifts Covered with Precious Stones was 15 Years Ago
During the passing year no gift received from the perspective of the job duties which is made of precious metals or covered with precious stones was entered to the Central Depository of Armenia,” said a representative of the Central Depository in response to the question raised by panorama.am.
The information provided by the Information and Public Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance of RA made us conclude that only 6 pieces of gifts received due to the position made of precious metals has been handed over to the Central Depository so far. These gifts handed over by the officials both from the Ministry of Justice of the RA and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the RA (2001).
Recently Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan has announced that delegations visiting Yerevan bring precious souvenirs with them. It turns out that during all these time no precious gift has been handed over to the Central Depository from the Yerevan Municipality.
“Yerevan Municipality officials has never handed over to the Central Depository gifts made of precious metals and stones which they received due to their position,” told us from the Ministry of Finance.
“According to the last report submitted to the Government of the RA on 01.01.2015, with the estimation of values the amount of state reserves of the Central Depository has comprised 1.505.661.392 AMD,” this amount has been given by the ministry.
We were also informed that if the price of the gift doesn’t excess the fivefold of the official’s salary, then it is not a must for the official to hand over the received gift to the Central Depository, but can be done so if the official wishes to.
Recently there has been an active discussion on the issue connected with the gifts school teachers receive. No such case has been reported so far when school teachers handed over to the Central Depository gifts made of precious metals and stones.
