Arman Tatoyan has Overcome the First Hurdle
Today the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs elected Arman Tatoyan as Deputy Minister of Justice with the majority of votes of 7 and his candidacy will be presented for Ombudsman during the NA plenary session. The committee reached this decision shortly before.
Zaruhi Postanjyan received only 4 votes for and 6 against and only 2 people voted of the other candidate Narek Aloyan.
“Our committee will nominate Arman Tatoyan as Ombudsman during the NA plenary session. According to the Constitution of the RA, the candidate with 3/5 of votes must be elected Ombudsman in a secret ballot,” said Hovhannes Sahakyan at the end of the session.
Artsvik Minasyan representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Faction has voted for all the candidates. A representative of ANC Faction Gagik Jhangiryan announced that he refrained from participating both in nomination and defence. He also announced that he is not going to participate in the elections at the NA plenary session.
It is noteworthy that the election process was held in a “Homey way”. After the publication of the results, MP Edmon Marukyan tried hard to ascertain whether nomination of only one candidate will be presented during the NA plenary session. Hovhannes Sahakyan in his turn gave positive answer stating that Zaruhi Postanjyan has not received enough votes.
Artsvik Minasyan then noticed that all the “for” votes which Zaruhi Postanjyan has received were announced, while there was no word about the “against” votes.
“All the Republicans are against,” replied Sahakyan. This very committee is the only one among alike, where representatives from the RPA form the majority. Among them are listed Robert Sargsyan (Taron Margaryan’s brother-in-law), Vahram Mkrtchyan, Gagik Meliqyan, Hovhannes Sahakyan and Levon Martirosyan.
