People of Lusarat are Demanding a Pay for the Purchased Grapes
Today all the grape growers of the village Lusarat in the Ararat Province of Armenia held a protest in the village center. While being interviewed by panorama.am, people of Lusarat expressed their concern over the matter that all the processing companies refuse to singe a contract with them. Moreover, some of them have not even received the payment for the purchased grape in autumn yet.
The villagers threaten to make the road from Yerevan to Ararat impassable, as they did before, in case there is found no speedy solution to the questions they raised.
“A representative of Aygavan factory came to the village and announced that this year they plan to sign a contract only with those grape growers who possess more than one hectare of vineyard. There are a number of people in the village who have only 7-8 thousands square meters of vineyard, then what they should do,” said one of the villagers.
The other in his turn made a complaint that he had gone through a surgery on his heart, so he needed postoperative treatment, but still was not able to receive his money from the Proshyan factory.
While being interviewed by panoarama.am the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan said that he is aware of the problem. At this moment there is an order from the Minister and our all attention is focused on the issue connected with the contract signing.
At this moment, the Ministry is taking up some steps towards helping the processing companies in realizing their production.
“For instance, at the moment the Minister is in India in the framework of an official visit. The main goal of the visit is the meeting with those companies who import wine productions into the country, so as to foster the export of Armenian wine and cognac to the Indian market. After a while the Indian party will arrive in Armenia to meet with the entrepreneurs. In case of a mutually beneficial cooperation, the problem with realizing the wine products will be partially solved,” said Makaryan.
