Economist Tatul Manaseryan described 2015 as a complicated year full of various external and internal challenges, referring to the complete statistics published by National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia.

“One of the most important problems is that Armenia is trying hard to improve its economic performance. First, all the projects targeting export and economic growth in the country faced failure not giving the desired results,” T. Manaseryan told the reporters during a meeting with them.

The approach according to which economic hardships that Armenia faces are connected with the economic situation in Russia as well as with the CU membership, Manaseryan describes as primitive.
“International organizations had the same temptation as well. The predictions that almost all credit and financial organizations tried to make totally failed. Let’s remember that they were making quite grave predictions about Armenia’s economic growth of almost 0 per cent,” said the speaker adding that there was 3.1 per cent economic growth in Armenia in 2015.

Manaseryan expressed his opinion on the fact that the registered economic growth is quite insufficient, as our potential is much greater, but everything is perceived in comparison. In Post-Soviet space this can be seen as a positive achievement”.

The economist also added the issue with the stability in national currency as an achievement for our country taking into account the fact that in many states of the region national currency has declined in double-digit or even in three digit of volume.

“I would like to mention once again that for me as an economist there were much more that should have been done. But these should be included in expectation list for 2016. Our expectations can be built in several directions,” he said.
