Iran to supply Gas to Georgia via Armenia
According to ria.ru, Head of National Iranian Gas Ali-Reza Kameli announced that Tehran is negotiating with Tbilisi over supplying 200 million cubic meter of gas via the territory of Armenia.
“According to the agreement reached with Georgia, we are to deliver gas to the Armenian border, and Georgia will get the gas from Armenia,” Kameli announced emphasizing that Georgia still needs to receive permission from the Armenian side.
According to Kameli, the gas delivery is only aiming at satisfying internal demand of Georgia, and does not seek to transit gas to Europe.
“The new agreement will be signed for 7 months and will serve as a basis for further cooperation. In case the economic feasibility of the project is confirmed, there could be possibility for further long-term and medium-term cooperation over gas transit to Georgia,” announced Kameli.
