Iranian ambassador to Armenia: We will continue to cooperate in the frameworks of the agreement on transmitting electricity for gas
We will continue to cooperate in the frameworks of already existing agreement between Iran and Armenia on “The coordination of the process of transmitting electricity for gas”. In the frameworks of this agreement we will try to enhance the cooperation between Armenia and Iran”- said Iranian ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sajadi, during the Iranian-Armenian International conference held in Yerevan.
By answering to the question on whether the negotiations are only in the frameworks of gas-electricity deal, and can Armenia buy gas for its needs, the ambassador said that currently the negotiations are in the frameworks of above-mentioned agreement. “Sure, we will inform you, if we make other decisions in the future”, said ambassador.
According to Seyed Kazem Sajadi, Iran and Armenia are neighbor countries and have no restrictions on developing their economic relations.
“The number of bilateral visits of high-ranking officials between the two states has been increased. We will see how Iran and Armenia are developing their relations even more actively in the near future. I think, that both states will use the existing opportunities”, said the ambassador.
“We had very good relations with Armenia even during the sanctions and after the lifting of sanctions these relations would continue to develop. Iran and Armenia assisted each other during difficult times, and that cooperation and attitude will remain the same in the future as well”, said the ambassador.
The ambassador also mentioned that the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication and Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development are discussing the issue of constructing of the Iran-Armenia railway. He also stated that a group of experts will come to Armenia to investigate the technical issues.
The international conference titled “25 years of cooperation between Armenia and Iran” was held in Palyan’s Hall of the Yerevan State University.
