Turkish PM Davutoglu: Tourism in Turkey is living through hard times
The tourism industry in Turkey is living through hard times, and the authorities are thinking to allocate around $85mln in order to help the industry. Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu said in a statement, according to Russian Vesti.ru.
The situation in Turkey has deteriorated drastically following the downing of Russian fighter jet in the Syrian skies by the Turkish air forces.
Following the incident, Russia introduced sanctions against Turkey and “advised” its national tour operators to distance themselves from offering packages to Turkey.
The tourists from Europe, in their turn, dropped their travel and holiday plans to Turkey after the terrorist attacks in that country. The numbers of German and British tourists in Turkey decreased by 16% and 14% respectively since last year.
