Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak awarded a number of politicians, including Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenkyuk, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko, as well as some members of the Verkhovna Rada with guns, reports RiaNovosti citing Ukrainian news agency Unian.

In May, 2013 Yatsenyuk was already awarded with an 11.43mm Thompson gun, produced in 1928. The source says that this was the favourite weapon of choice of the US bandits during the Prohibition era. The Prime Minister was also awarded with 203 bullets for the gun.

The reason for Yatsenyuk’s award, according to the decree, is his considerable input in “strengthening the country’s national security, for significant actions towards the statehood, exemplary performance of his duty, high professionalism, as well as for honour and courage”.

Petrenko and Avakov received American Army “Colt M1911”s. It is noteworthy, that the Minister of Justice received a lot less ammunition than the Minister of Internal Affairs.

Poltorak awarded himself with a modern Glock 19, according to the media.
