Haykakan Zhamanak. The authorities to use the electronic system only for voting
According to sources of Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, the representatives of the European company that will introduce the electronic voting system for the forthcoming general elections will arrive in Armenia today.
The newspaper could not identify the name of the company, but a source familiar with the drafting of the new Electoral Code who declined to be quoted said that same company has developed an electronic voting system for the United States and a few European countries.
The company representatives are scheduled to have meetings with the authorities and the working group that is drafting the new Electoral Code to discuss the details of the electronic system to be developed.
«According to our sources, before the authorities had been considering to introduce electronic systems on all stages of the elections – from the voter registration to voting – while now they prefer to have the system in place only for the voting».
