Bundestag Vice President: What happened to Armenians was Genocide
The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved exclusively through peaceful means within the scope the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs mediation. The right of Artsakh people to self-determination has no alternative, the National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov told at a meeting with Edelgard Bulmahn, Vice President of the German Bundestag.
The press release, issued by the Office of Eduard Sharmazanov says that the NA Deputy Speaker deemed as unacceptable Azerbaijani efforts to religious motives to Artsakh issue. Edelgard Bulmahn shared Sharmazanov’s views, highlighting the necessity to solve the conflict through exclusively peaceful means.
Sharmazanov expressed hope that the German Bundestag will adopt a draft resolution on the Armenian Genocide. Vice President of the Bundestag underlined on her part that what happened to Armenians was Genocide, which should be condemned.
Edelman recalled discussions on the draft resolution of the Armenian Genocide held a day before which was a positive message towards the Genocide recognition.
The NA Deputy Speaker invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to Armenia, the release says.
