Gagik Jhangiryan: I don’t see any will or desire to solve March 1 events
“Ten victims, hundreds injured and about 90 convicted, the overwhelming majority being participants of the protest rally and supporters of the movement,” said National Assembly ANC faction member Gagik Jhangiryan presenting statistics eight years after the tragic events on March 1.
“Hundreds of citizens who have suffered weren’t able to exercise their right to judicial protection. And finally, the most important and the most painful thing is that no one has been held responsible for the killings,” said Jhangiryan.
He explained that such situation is the result of lack of investigation. “We still don’t know the government’s assessment on the involvement of the armed forces on March 1-2. The legal assessment of top-secret order of Defence Minister is also missing.”
According to Jhangiryan, it hasn’t been clarified how the illegal armed groups were involved in the event.
“Summarizing, I simply don’t see the will, the desire to solve these crimes. And this is a result and consequence of inability of control of our law enforcement system, intelligence operative, investigative agencies and prosecution,” Jhangiryan concluded.
