Armenian candidates to run for parliament in Syria
Today, March 3 is the deadline for submitting applications to participate in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections in Syria. According to Perio news, as of March 1, 8681 people proposed their candidacy in the elections, among them Armenians from different provinces of Syria.
According to a statement issued by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad the Parliamentary Elections in Syria will be held on April 23. The upcoming elections will be the second since the armed conflict in Syria erupted in 2011. The latest Parliamentary Elections were held in Syria in May, 2012, when 51% of the citizens eligible to vote participated in the elections.
