Suren Hasmikyan: Armenian film shouldn’t be privatized
According to the government decision of August 31, 2015, 100% shares of “HayFilm” studio named after Hamo Beknazaryan, will be returned to the Government of Armenia.
“I’m in favor of nationalization of “HayFilm” studio, yet I don’t have high hopes with the state. A Law on Cinema should be adopted, which would help solve this problem,” said Honored Artist of Armenia, film critic Suren Hasmikyan at a press conference.
He also said that the owner had promised to digitalize and restore the movies, yet if they change black and white movies into colored ones, the films will lose their essence.
“I consider myself guilty for not actively fighting against privatization. Armenian film shouldn’t be privatized,” Hasmikyan said.
