European Parliamentarians propose personal sanctions against Russian officials
Members of the European Parliament have sent a letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini offering to introduce personal sanctions against those involved in the imprisonment of Nadia Savchenko, an officer of the Ukrainian Air Force, who remains in custody in Russia. MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said on his Twitter account.
The letter suggests that sanctions should be introduced against 29 Russian citizens, in particular these sanctions should include prohibiting issuance of EU visas to them, freezing their assets, and confiscating their property in the EU countries, Interfax-Ukraine agency reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is the first on the list of those suggested for sanctions.
