European Championship: Artur Aleksanyan and Roman Amoyan have qualified for the finals
The European Wrestling Championship is underway in Riga, Latvia, National Olympic Commmitte of Armenia (ANOC) informs, adding that on March 12 Greco-Roman wrestlers of 59kg, 66kg, 98kg and 130kg weight classes came out.
According to the report, Roman Amoyan (59kg) triumphed over Croatia’s Ivan Lazatovic (9:0), and then in the quarter-finals blew away Georgia’s Irakli Shavadze with a score of 9:6. In the semifinals Amoyan won 4:0 Ukraine’s Dmytro Tsymbalyuk. In the finals the Armenian wrestler will compete against Russia’s Mingiyan Semeonov.
Two-time world and three-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan (98kg) won 8:0 Ukraine’s Dmitri Timoshenko in the 1/8 finals. In the quarter-finals the Armenian wrestler gained advantage (6:2) over Austria’s Daniel Gastle. In the semifinals Aleksanyan defeated Turkey’s Cenk Ildem (6:2). And in the finals the Armenian wrestler will compete with Russia’s Nikita Melnikov.
