Greek Prime Minister assesses development of Iran-Armenia-Greece cooperation as “perspective”
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan who is on an official visit to Greece, today put wrath at the Armenian Genocide monument in Nea Zmirni square of the Greek capital Athens and paid tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims along with Diaspora representatives, Clergy, and Armenian trainees studying in Greek military academies.
President Sargsyan then held a meeting with the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the press department of the President’s Office reports.
President Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tsipras highlighted the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in a number of areas, including trade and economic, agriculture, education, culture, tourism spheres. Serzh Sargsyan and Alexis Tsipras called on deepening the cooperation between the business communities of the two states as well as to encourage the mutual investments.
In his speech Prime Minister Tsipras assessed the Iran-Armenia-Greece trilateral cooperation development as perspective, referring to the good neighborly relations between Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Greek Prime Minister mentioned examples of such trilateral collaboration formats Greek already had, singling out the Greece-Cyprus-Israel and the Greece-Cyprus-Egypt cooperation formats. Aside from that, Tsipras stated he sees opportunities for establishing the EU-EEU cooperation platforms and confirmed his readiness to support the matter whenever necessary.
President Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tsipraz then exchanged views on actual international topics, challenges as well as the regional developments. Alexis Tsipras reiterated Greece’s position regarding the existing conflicts on international area and highlighted the necessity to settle those through peaceful means based on international norms.
Tsipras emphasized that Greece supports the negotiated political solution of the Karabakh conflict within the scope of the OSCE Minsk group and wishes to see the further regional developments in peace, security and stability.
