Education Minister to make surprise visits to Armenian schools
Armenian Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan informed he had planned a consultation with the school principals of Yerevan and other educational institutions from Armenian provinces. The meeting is to be held on March 18.
“We will try to cover the actual issues at schools once again during the consultation, the question of the curriculums and future programs among them. All discussions should be conducted publicly,” Minister Mkrtchyan noted today at a briefing with reporters.
The minister said he needed to visit the schools as well; therefore a decision was made to make surprise visits to schools weekly.
“That is not to be a punitive measure, rather to assess and learn the matters teachers and parents are concerned with. We will try to outline all the issues pertaining to the public education sphere. There is the trilateral set of layers comprising of pupils, teachers, and parents. Each layer has its problems yet we will try to identify them and move on to their gradual solution,” Levon Mkrtchyan said.
The minister then added that teachers have problems of social nature, parents constantly complain over the busy schedule of the pupils, which does not correspond to their ages, and those issues are expected to be raised during the consultation.
