Ereruyk basilica in Europa Nostra “The 7 Most Endangered” programme
Archaeological site Ereruyk and the village of Anipemza, Armenia are included in Europa Nostra “The 7 Most Endangered” programme. According to the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, the list was earlier issued by the Europa Nostra organization and the European Investment Bank Institute (EIBI) at a public event in Venice.
Armenia has been a member of Europa Nostra organization since 2012. Europa Nostra is a European heritage organization found in 1963 with 42 member countries. The aim of the organization is to preserve Europe’s cultural and natural heritage with the help of civil society.
“The 7 Most Endangered” program was launched in 2013 by Europa Nostra with the support of European Investment Bank Institute and the Council of Europe Development Bank. The programme aims at coordinating the preservation of monuments and their further use identifying potential funding sources for heritage protection.
“The 7 Most Endangered” monuments are chosen by the Europa Nostra Board from the list of 14 most endangered monuments list. The latter is formed with the help of historians, archaeologists, architects, constructors and financial analysts.
