WikiLeaks: Clinton followed Armenian reactions to Armenian-Turkish protocols
Last week WikiLeaks published the US Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s personal messages touching upon various subjects.
The published server contains more than 30.322 letters where Clinton also addresses Armenia.
The published letters show that she mainly touched upon Armenian-Turkish protocols, the Genocide issue. There were also letters about Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. These letters were sent not only by ordinary staff but also former Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon.
Letters concerning Armenian-Turkish protocols were prevalent.
“EUR reported that the Turks will submit the agreement signed with Armenia over the weekend to Parliament today as promised, making it possible for the Armenian President to visit Turkey for the soccer match,” read a letter sent by a staff member on December 10, 2009.
From the letters of 2009, it becomes clear that Clinton and Gordon implemented special work to make sure Turkey carried out the ratification in October, 2009.
The letters also show that the US State Department followed Armenian reactions concerning Armenian-Turkish protocols.
In the letters about the Armenian Genocide, the staff informed Clinton about the procedures concerning the Genocide international recognition. There was also a letter about French lower house backing Armenian genocide bill dating December 22, 2011, “France's lower house of parliament approved a bill on Thursday that would make it criminal offence to deny genocide, in a move that has caused tension between Paris and Ankara”.
