FM Nalbandyan: Azerbaijani leadership lives in a kingdom of crooked mirrors
Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan received today Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, who is on a visit to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, press department of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
President Sahakyan and Minister Nalbandyan discussed the process of the negotiated settlement of the Karabakh issue and reflected on the efforts by Armenia, Artsakh and the OSCE Co-Chairs toward that goal.
According to the information, Minister Nalbandyan then held a meeting with Artsakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan and discussed the priorities ahead of Artsakh and Armenia.
Edward Nalbandyan next attended Artsakh State University and met with the professorship and the students. Responding to a question of one of the students asking about Azerbaijani recent statements, Minister Nalbandyan said:
“Azerbaijani leadership calls provocateurs to the Co-Chairing states for the latters’ proposal on establishment of the investigation mechanisms into the incidents. As a matter of fact, that criticism is not directed at solely the Co-Chairs but the current and previous OSCE chairing states, the United Nations, the European Union and overall, to all the states which have supported and support the proposal,” Nalbandyan noted, adding that Baku does not conceal the fact that Azerbaijan stands behind the ceasefire violations and the intensification of the situation - even is proud of that.
The Minister said those Azerbaijani attempts are propaganda tricks intended for domestic auditorium, which prompts us to conclude that Azerbaijan has lost the sense of reality.
“This is not expressed only with regard to the Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan insists that it is economically the most stable, the most democratic, the most tolerant state, that it has the best human rights record in the world, which may even serve an example for other states, while international organizations and human rights watchdogs state quite the opposite,” Nalbandyan said, adding: “A kingdom of crooked mirrors is established in Azerbaijan, and its leadership looks at themselves in those mirrors and feels happy calling on other to live in that world of crooked mirrors.”
