Armenian MFA to deal with US Visa restrictions for IT representatives
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan told reporters that he is aware about the situation in connection with the US visa restrictions for a number of Armenian IT sector representatives. PM Abrahamyan’s comments came at the 16th conference of Union of Information Technology Enterprises held in Yerevan on March 25.
“We will instruct the Foreign Ministry to address the issue,” Abrahamyan said.
To remind, earlier representatives of the Armenian Information and Communication Technology sector (ICT) complained over constant refusals of visa entry to the United States due to what they called arbitrary decisions by the US Embassy consular officers.
The US Embassy that time released a statement reading “visa adjudication process places a strict emphasis on enforcing U.S. immigration laws and that “Visa decisions by U.S. consular officers worldwide are based on those U.S. laws and visa regulations currently in place and reflect goal of facilitating legitimate travel.”
