Opera and Ballet National Theatre to have an art director, Andranik Arzumanyan says
Al. Spendaryian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre needs an art director although it is too early to speak of that, Andranik Arzumanyan, Director of the Theatre told reports at a meeting.
To remind, Art Director of the Opera Theatre Gegham Grigoryan passed away on March 23 at the age of 65.
“I am empowered to invite an art director, yet I have made no official statement and such is not expected for the coming future. That is not a nice sing for our part. We should await for two-three months,” Arzumanyan explained, noting that all the programs of the year had been worked out with late Gegham Grigoryan, and they have nothing but to implement those programs in a due manner.
Arzumanyan next informed that “Norma” opera in 2 acts by Vincenzo Bellini is scheduled to be staged on April 4, which will be followed by “Tosca” opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini. “We have worked on the performance with Gegham Grigoryan. The opera will be premiered in autumn. A director will be invited in the coming days, as we are in consultations with that regard.”
Aside from that, Arzumanyan says, “Sasuntsi Davit” Opera will be premiered - first in Artsakh on September 1. The Opera theatre is working also on “The dragonfly and the ant" children’s and “Masquerade” ballets premiere which are slated for summer or autumn.
