CSTO spokesperson: Azerbaijani actions aimed at escalating the situation in Nagorno Karabakh
Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolay Bordyuzha discussed the escalation of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh over the phone with the highest military political leadership of Armenia, spokesperson to CSTO Vladimir Zaynetdinov told Interfax agency.
“In particular, Nikolay Bordyuzha had a phone conversation with Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan,” the spokesperson said as quoted by the agency.
Zaynetdinov also stressed that Azerbaijani actions only escalate the situation in Nagorno Karabakh.
“Every issue should be settled through negotiations. In this case Azerbaijani actions lead to the escalation of the conflict and the situation,” he noted.
He then informed that CSTO Secretary General is constantly in touch with Armenian leadership
To remind, Azerbaijani forces undertook a large scale offensive along the entire Line of Contact on the night of April 1-2 using artillery, armored vehicles, and air force. The adversary hit civilian areas and permanently deployed military units by artillery fire.
The Defense Army units of Nagorno Karabakh Republic have destroyed three tanks, two drones and one more military helicopter on top of the other one, confirmed in earlier in the morning – according to verified intelligence data published by the NKR Ministry of Defense.
Another statement by Karabakh Defense Army reported that 12-year-old Vaghinak Grigoryan killed, two other children wounded in a shell launched from Azerbaijani MM-21 artillery rocket system in the direction of Martuni position.
