James Warlick: OSCE Minsk Group to convene a session in Vienna on April 4
The OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs are slated to meet in Vienna on Monday, April 4 to address the escalation of the Karabakh conflict and convene the Minsk Group on Tuesday, reads the tweet by Minsk Group Co-chairman James Warlick of the United States.
“The OSCE Co-Chairs will meet in Vienna on Monday and convene the Minsk Group on Tuesday to address violence in Nagorno-Karabakh,” reads the message.
Earlier Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius reflected on the escalation of the Karabakh conflict. “Recent military escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh must be stopped. Armenia and Azerbaijan must comply with commitments of non-military solution,” Linkevicius wrote on Twitter.
Earlier it was reported that President Serzh Sargsyan is expected to convene a meeting of the country's National Security Council today in the evening. The Council will discuss the growing escalation and violence along the Line of Contact following the unprecedented offensive carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces since the night of April 2, as well as “other questions” about the situation, according to the official press release from the Office of the President.
To remind, Azerbaijani forces undertook a large scale offensive along the entire Line of Contact on the night of April 1-2 using artillery, armored vehicles, and air force. The adversary hit civilian areas and permanently deployed military units by artillery fire.
The Defense Army units of Nagorno Karabakh Republic have destroyed three tanks, two drones and one more military helicopter on top of the other one, confirmed in earlier in the morning – according to verified intelligence data published by the NKR Ministry of Defense.
