President Sargsyan: I called upon Vice President Biden and State Secretary Kerry “to scold” Azerbaijan
“In the frameworks of Nuclear Security Summit [in the United States] I had meetings with Vice President Joe Biden and State Secretary [John] Kerry. I called upon them to scold Azerbaijan not to violate the terms of the ceasefire regime. But as we all saw only few hours after those meetings certain developments took place which is still unknown where can lead us”, - said President Serzh Sargsyan opening the meeting of National Security Council in Yerevan, according to the press service of the
President’s Office. President Sargsyan also praised the professionalism of the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh Republic demonstrated during the combat operations in response to the Azerbaijani large-scale offensive, saying their decisions have been “timely, necessary and correct”.
“The provocations still continue, there is certain level of tensions in the Northern and Southern directions [of the Line of Contact], but the Army of Defense of Nagorno Karabakh Republic is fully in control of the situation”, - the President confirmed. “The situation along the Line of Contact between armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan continues to remain extremely tense. The frontline forces of the Defense Army continue defensive combat operations successfully, inflicting heavy losses to the adversary”, - a latest press statement from the Ministry of Defense of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic says.
The press release also contained a video footage of the areas after the Azerbaijani offensive with graphic images of dead Azeri servicemen and destroyed military equipment and vehicles.
“Overall, during the entire period of armed clashes the Azerbaijani side has suffered the loss of more than 200 servicemen, as well as two tanks, two drones and two helicopters”, - the NKR MOD statement reads.
