Russian Defense, Foreign Ministers held talks with their Armenian, Azerbaijani counterparts
Moscow is constantly in touch with Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministries in light of the escalated tensions in Nagorno Karabakh, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Saturday, Ria Novosti reports.
According to the source, Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement, which reads: “In the course of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reaction to the renewal of the hostilities in the Karabakh contact line and within Russian efforts in contact with the OSCE Minsk Group to stabilize the situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held phone conversations with Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan and called on them to impact the situation to quit the hostilities.”
Meanwhile, Russian Defense Ministry released a statement saying Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu held urgent negotiations with Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov. According to the information, ministers discussed the necessity of emergency measures to be taken up for stabilizing the situation in the conflict zone.
