Artsakh President urges the Minsk Group to return Artsakh to negotiation table
Artsakh President commented on the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov’s statement that parties are close to reaching an agreement over the “proposals on table.”
“I have had and now have the opportunity to assess the work of mediating organizations. Not only I assess their work, but also thanked the international community for the exerted efforts,” President Sahakyan said, adding that the relative peace is preserved due to OSCE Minsk Group as well.
“Aside from appreciation, I used to present my discontent with their mission. I voiced up at all our meetings that no final solution exists for the Karabakh conflict until the negotiation format is restored,” Sahakyan noted”
According to him, any initiative and proposal may not come into reality completely and comprehensively without NKR official participation to it.
“According to the Budapest summit (December 1994), NK is a party to the conflict and the decision still legally remains in force. Therefore it is necessary to finally review this demand and also in the light of the recent developments - to return Artsakh to the full negotiation format,” Sahakyan said
“The nature of the conflict itself implies that the demand to return to the negotiation process comes out of the logic. No conflict exists in the world which could be solved with its primary actor absent,” Sahakyan concluded.
