Weightlifter Vanik Avetisyan wins small bronze medal at the European Championships
Armenian representatives Vanik Avetisyan won a small bronze medal and Rostam Karapetyan finished 11th at the European Championships underway in Forde, Norway, reports press service of National Olympic Committee of Armenia.
Eleven athletes from Armenia, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey, Belarus, Albania, France and Russia competed in the men’s 69kg competition.
According to the source, in the snatch Armenian representative Vanik Avetisyan managed to lift 137kg only in the second attempt and placed 9th. Rostam Karapetyan snatched 136kg and placed 12th.
In the clean & jerk Avetisyan lifted 175kg and won a small bronze medal. As to Karapetyan, he lifted 160kg.
With the double-event of 312kg, Avetisyan places 5th and Karapetyan 11th scoring 293kg.
To remind, on April 13 Armenia will be represented by 4 athletes – Arakel Mirzoyan (85kg subgroup C), Christine Petrosyan (63kg, subgroup A), Andranik Karapetyan and Tigran Martirosyan (77kg).
