Syrian Armenians actively participating in the parliamentary elections
Syrian Armenians are actively participating in the Parliamentary elections of the Arab Republic. As Kandzasar newspaper Facebook page reports, the leader of the Berio Diocese of Armenia Archbishop Shahan Sargsyan, the representatives of the Armenian community of Aleppo, press secretary to the Berio Diocese Jirayr Reisyan who is also a single candidate for the Aleppo community, went to the polling station and voted.
According to the information, three independent candidates from Damascus - Nora Arisyan, Yerato Grigoryanm, Vahe Mahshikyan - participate in the Parliamentary elections.
As reported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also visited the polling station with his wife and voted.
To remind MPs for the 250-seat parliament will be elected out of 3,500 candidates. The voting is being hold in 13 Syrian provinces out of 15, as Raqqa and Idlib remain under terrorist control. An estimated 80 percent of the Syrian population lives on government-controlled territories. Last Parliamentary elections in Syria were held in 2012.
Results of the elections are expected to be made public Thursday.
