Alexander Iskandaryan: Azerbaijan in euphoric state
“I never hoped for the ceasefire to lead to any other situation,” said political scientist Alexander Iskandaaryan noting a visible return to the situation before the hostilities.
“It’s not a coincidence that Azerbaijan has been behaving this way for the past few years. But hoping that suddenly Azerbaijan won’t do all these, isn’t serious,” Iskandaryan said.
According to him, the ceasefire is like an ambulance through which they will try to re-establish the negotiation process.
“In the long run, Azerbaijan’s goal was political, rather than military,” he said.
According to the political scientist, Azerbaijan is now in a euphoric state. Their leadership is trying to show that they are able to make war with Armenians.
Concerning Artsakh becoming a party in the negotiation process, Iskandaryan noted that Azerbaijan will never agree on that.
“It’s hard for me to imagine Artsakh around the negotiations table,” Iskandaryan concluded.
