Shavarsh Kocharyan: We should rely on ourselves
“The last events showed the sooner Artsakh is involved in negotiation process the more efficient the process will be,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan during a press conference.
The Deputy Minister also spoke about the Kazan document comparing it with that of Madrid, and stated that we shouldn’t think it offers positive solutions for Armenia and Karabakh.
Answering the question about CSTO Secretary-General, Nikolay Bordyuzha and the fact that he didn’t arrive in Armenian during the escalation on the border, Kocharyan said that the CSTO somehow reacted to the events.
“Many times before these events, I’ve said that first of all we should rely on ourselves, on the other hand we should attach importance to our relationships with other state, especially with our allies. Expecting more is dangerous,” said Kocharyan concerning the complaints in Armenia in regard with the CSTO.
He was then asked to comment on Turkey’s participation in the summit of Islamic states, although CSTO member Belarus presented a military doctrine prohibiting involvement in any other country’s military operations.
“We told Belarus about this. Particularly, I invited the Ambassador of Belarus. Our Foreign minister spoke to the Foreign Minister of Belarus. They tried to neutralize their previous steps through the statement of their spokesperson. Indeed it was and will be spoken about,” Kocharyan said.
As far as it concerns Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Rogozin’s offensive statements about Armenia, Kocharyan noted that a state official shouldn’t allow himself such a tone.
