Nazik Avdalyan: Our soldiers on the border gave me the strength
European champion, Nazik Avdalyan spoke about her victory with excitement and pride, reports the press service of National Olympic Committee of Armenia.
Avdalyan dedicated her victory to Armenian soldiers on the border.
“I became a European champion 8 years ago. I’ve left the sport after the car accident. I started training in 2015. I wasn’t thinking about becoming a European champion. I haven’t felt this way about winning any competition, perhaps I was a child at that time and wasn’t fully enjoying the victory. Many people doubted I would make a major result. Frankly speaking, our soldiers on the border gave me the strength. They were fighting a life-or-death battle without fear. Why would I be afraid? Those thoughts were constantly on my mind: Azerbaijani soldiers have more weapon yet we are winning. There are all the necessary conditions for athletes. Why wouldn’t we win? I can only thank Armenian soldiers on the border,” said Avdalyan in her interview.
Concerning her plans for the future, Avdalyan didn’t want to run ahead of time, yet she also didn’t deny having plans about the Olympics.
