Blitzkrieg initiated by Aliyev characteristic of dictators, European parliamentarian says
The blitzkrieg initiated by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is characteristic to dictators who try to divert the domestic public attention from the internal issues through organizing small wars in order to silence the people by making use of “victories”, deputy at the European parliament Yaromir Shtetina from the Czech Republic said during a TV interview.
It should be noted, that the parliamentarian visited Artsak on April 19 and shared his impressions about the trip.
According to him, apart from the war of weapons another war, namely, information one is on which is rather tough in these days. “I visited the Nagorno Karabakh Republic to learn what had happened. I have no trust in Azerbaijani media reporting. I would not say I have no trust in Armenian media, however I do want to have own source of information,” Shtetina stressed.
Asked whether he has any concern over being included Azerbaijani “Black list” for his visit to NKR, Shtetina said he got familiarized with the list long ago. “If refused, that would be their mistake, not mine,” he noted.
Responding to the question about possible European sanctions against Azerbaijan for committing gross human rights, in particular the atrocities committed against civilian and military of NKR , Shtetina said: “We should start the process on the rear side through raising the human rights issues in Azerbaijan and secondly recognizing Karabakh independence. I do not exclude sanctions against Azerbaijan in case of an unexpected large-scale military operation.”
The parliamentarian then reflected on the Armenian Genocide expressing regret that his state has not recognized the crime yet, though he is hopeful the move will come in the future. “That is a shame for me for that I apologize,” Shtetina said.
