Tatul Manaseryan on import of Turkish products
This is the case when we should explain our rejection approach, said economist Tatul Manaseryan concerning import and consumption of Turkish products in Armenia during a press conference.
“Many of our citizens leave for a seasonal work abroad to send money to their relatives, who finance Turkish military-industrial complex by purchasing Turkish products,” he said.
Taking into account that Armenia and Turkey don’t have any diplomatic relations, Manaseryan said that Georgia becomes a bridge for the product transportation.
According to him, all these result in not only material, but also physical and moral damage.
Manaseryan also noted that the state, the private sector, the civil society and the Diaspora have their important roles in the fight against Turkish products consumption. He also stated that these parties should be actively involved in order to have successful results.
Concerning those individuals importing Turkish products, the economist said that the state should provide these people with jobs and encourage self-employment and microbusiness. He also mentioned that it’s high time Armenia’s import policy changed to production policy.
“I welcome the initiative of putting ‘not made in Turkey’ rejecting labels on products. We should advertise the following, ‘those buying Turkish products are sponsoring terrorism’ through the entire world. I think the government will make a reasonable decision, but the consumers should also assist,” concluded Manaseryan.
