No sense to leave the Eurasian Economic Union at this point, Economy Minister says
Armenian Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan sees no sense in leaving the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) at this moment. The minister’s’ comments came at the request of the journalists to reflect on the suggestion by MP Khachatur Qoqobelyan.
“As a Minister of Economy I see no reasonability for the move at this point. Furthermore, those messages may bring some confusion over the economic processes, and therefore it is of importance to work out such processes internally before going to the public domain,” the minister noted.
According to Minasyan, such an activity may affect the economy as certain expectations are formed because of it.
“As a member of the Cabinet, the responsible body for the economy, I see no need for the move,” the minister noted suggesting instead to make use of the available mechanism to benefit from the advantages provided within the EEU.
Asked what the reasons are for not being able to benefit from the advantages provided by the organization, the minister listed a number of factors, blaming the on the journalist among them.
He specifically pointed out the attempts to lead even individual economic entities in a wrong direction, saying the wrong directions consequently form wrong expectations.
“Expectations are considered to be the primary approach to the modern economy. It is not acceptable to use everything for the sake of power change in a way to undermine even expected positive developments,” Minasyan concluded.
