State Department comments Karabakh developments: We want to see a return to negotiations and settlement immediately
Spokesperson to the US Department of State John Kirby says the United States supports the Minsk Group process with regard to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Kirby’s comments came at a press briefing held in Washington on April 21.
Asked whether Russia’s unilateral diplomacy in the State Department’s opinion may overshadow the work of the multinational OSCE Minsk group, Kirby referred to the Minsk Group process as the “the best way forward”.
“And as you know, our Minsk group co-chair, Ambassador Warlick, visited the region with his Russian and French counterparts, making it clear that we want to see a return to negotiations and settlement immediately. And we remain firmly committed, again, through the OSCE Minsk Group to working with the sides to reach a lasting peace,” John Kirby stressed.
