According to the RA government decision the mural “In the Mountains” will be moved to Gyumri State Drama Theatre after Vardan Achemyan on conditions of gratuitous and with no expiration date. The government decision also reads that the government will care for the restoration works, which will be financed by the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.

The justification for the decision reads that after the1988 devastating earthquake number of murals, Hakob Hakobyan’s “In the mountains” among them, being under state preservation, have been kept in an abandoned building, which pose a real threat for the secure and full preservation of the art work.

RA Ministry of Culture with the support of the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) have thus undertaken measures to moving the mural to a more proper site for the tourists as well as implement the restoration works.
