Inclusive section of kindergarten No. 92 opened in Yerevan
The inclusive section of kindergarten No. 92 in Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, Yerevan is open. ‘Entrance: with a smile’, ‘I’m just like you’ is written all over the walls of the kindergarten.
Chairman of the Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood, Ara Babloyan said their main aim is to stop calling kindergartens inclusive.
“A kindergarten shouldn’t be called inclusive, and every child should have the right and chance to attend a kindergarten. Our overall aim is to create an exemplary institution, to be able to create the necessary opportunities in all the districts of Yerevan and the provinces,” he said.
According to Babloyan, at least among 10% of children in Armenia different degrees of delays and disorders in development is observed.
Mayor of Yerevan, Taron Margaryan said that it is important for such kindergartens to operate in the administrative districts. “I’m sure that this project will be continuous,” he added.
According to director of the kindergarten, Karine Harutyunyan, the daily activities of children are organized jointly: they go for walks, do PE, singing, dancing, drawing and constructive classes together.
“No one is subjected to trauma during the inclusive activities,” she said.
The parents of the children are very satisfied with the conditions and services provided by the kindergarten. One of the parents shared with Panorama.am that before attending the kindergarten, her child wasn’t able to speak, now he utters word combinations.
