First, we need to assess competitiveness of Turkish products, Babken Pipoyan says
Armenian consumers cannot treat Turkish products objectively, Chairman of Informed and Protected Consumer NGO, Babken Pipoyan told Panorama.am, speaking about refusing the purchase of Turkish products.
“Attempts are made to conceal Turkish products. In other words, Turkish products become competitive because in many cases they are consumed as local or foreign products,” he said.
According to Pipoyan, in this case, all we need is strict control to protect the consumers from delusions. Only in case of control, the consumption levels and competitiveness of Turkish products could be objectively measured.
Pipoyan thinks that legal changes should be made concerning the labelling of the products. According to him, the consumer should be informed what kind of product they are buying.
“Only through these steps we can objectively assess the competitiveness of Turkish products in the Armenian market,” Pipoyan said.
According to him, there are many people who are ready to pay more to purchase local products.
