Draft on recognizing Artsakh Republic submitted to Government of Armenia
A draft on “Recognizing the Artsakh Republic” is included on the agenda of the Armenian Government session on May 5. The draft has only two articles:
Article 1: The Republic of Armenia recognizes the Artsakh Republic.
Article 2: This law enters into force the following day of publication.
The draft has been submitted by Members of Parliament Hrant Bagratyan and Zaruhi Postanjyan.
According to the parliamentarians, by adopting the draft, Armenia would officially recognize the actual status of Artsakh, considering that the Artsakh Republic meets all the preconditions of the international law for a sovereign state.
“The law would become a basis for improving relations between Armenian and Artsakh Republics, clarifying Armenia’s rights and responsibilities in strengthening the security of Artsakh, defining national interest and state policy of Armenia and its participation in post-conflict reconstruction activities,” the parliamentarians said in their suggestion.
