Ban on the agricultural export from Turkey to bring positive effect on price stability and demand of the local products
The ban on the agricultural export from Turkey will have no essential impact on the Armenian market, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Garnik Petrosyan told Panorama.am.
According to him, the volumes of the agriculture goods exported from Turkey have gradually diminished over the recent years due to the boost of the greenhouse industries and improved farm yields.
“Existing data show we have opportunities for import of sufficient amount of cucumbers and tomatoes,” the minister noted, adding that previously about 22-25 kg harvest was reaped from one sq. of a greenhouse, today the number is 40-45 kg.
“I am more than confident that in the course of the coming two months our internal supply for the winter months will be satisfied fully by local products. We have had no problem so far for the rest of the months in a year,” the deputy minister said.
“During previous years we exported early potatoes from Turkey in early spring which resulted in a sharp decline of the prices. The village households faced serious problems,” the minister recalled informing that this year for the first time no early potatoes were exported from Turkey.
According to Petrosyan, the ban on the agricultural export from Turkey may have positive effect on the price stability and the demand for the local products.
To the deputy minister, the ban on the export of Turkish toxic chemicals and seeds may not negatively affect on the market either.
