Armenia should be ready for another attack, Shavarsh Kocharyan says
Even though Azerbaijan’s blitzkrieg failed, there are no changes in their position, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan.
“However, I think in this case there are no distinct changes in their power policy. Today is the 22th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement in effect since May 12, 1994. As the events in April showed, Azerbaijan has used the entire negotiation process as a veil to disseminate disinformation, to promote its propaganda, to acquire weaponry and prepare for a military solution,” Kocharyan noted.
According to him, Armenia should first of all be ready for a new attack. Second, should focus on strengthening the negotiations process, which in fact don’t exist.
“The main reason is Azerbaijan preventing Artsakh from becoming a negotiating party. That’s obvious. Moreover, the only tangible result of the negotiations was the very ceasefire agreement of 1994 which was violated. Yet it operated for so many years for better or for worse, because Baku negotiated with Karabakh. And as Baku pretends that such subject doesn’t exist, means it doesn’t want any progress in negotiation process. These are really interconnected issues. From the moment Baku quits preventing NKR’s full participation in the negotiation process, it would mean that they want to move forward,” Kocharyan said commenting on Karabakh becoming a rightful party at the negotiation table.
