Martakert settlements didn’t suffer after adversary’s fire, city mayor says
Martakert Mayor Misha Gyurjyan told Panorama.am that settlement didn’t suffer during the adversary’s firing.
“Martakert settlements didn’t suffer during today’s firing. The situation was tense mainly in the military positions,” he said.
To remind, from afternoon May 13 till the night of May 14 tensions maintained on the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan, NKR Defense Army reported.
According to the source, the adversary continued violating the arrangement to cease the fire using 60 mm (53 shells), 82 mm (142 shells) mortars, AGS-17 (30 shells), RPG-7 type (2 shells) grenade launchers as well as ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft auto cannon (30 shots).
In the result of the Azerbaijani violation of the ceasefire arrangement, Karabakh servicemen Hovhannes Eduard Poghosyan, 1995, received gunshot wound in the combat position of the Defense Army military unit located in northern direction.
NKR defense Army Advanced Detachment took up retaliatory actions and suppressed the adversary’s activity.
Misha Gyurjyan also noted that situation in Martakert is relatively calm at this point, and people are busy with their daily chores.
One of the citizens said that they have got used to the shootings.
According to Misha Gyurjyan, even though no destruction was recorded in Martakert, the city has suffered serious damage during the April war.
