Azerbaijani minister: Mingachevir reservoir can cause certain problems because of earth dam flow
The earth dams of the Mingachevir reservoir flow, which can cause certain problems if the water level rises, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Huseyn Bagirov, said, according to Report.az.
According to the minister, municipalities are in charge of water level- and quality-related issues, as well as of the cleanness of beachfront territories. However, they fail to carry out their duties.
“Fines are constantly imposed for contaminating the environment. The size of the fines has increased by 40 times over the past ten years. Fines restrain people from illegal acts, and we see the effectiveness of the undertaken measures,” Bagirov noted adding that it is necessary to fine the municipalities.
However, according to the minister, sometimes even fining the municipalities does not help.
