The adversary continued violations on the Line of Contact between Nagorno KArabakh and Azerbaijan on the night of May 16-17, firing from weapons of different calibres, infantry fighting vehicles, applying 60 mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers, reports NKR Defense Army press service.
More intensive violations were observed on the south-eastern (Hadrut) and eastern (Martuni) directions of the line.

“It’s noteworthy, that the Azerbaijani side tried to destabilize the situation and organize provocative operations, while Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan were on a meeting organized by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in Vienna.

As a result of the adversary’s offensive operations, serviceman Khachatur Harutyunyan, 1996 was killed around 12:00 AM local time on May 17.

Investigations are underway to find out the details of the serviceman’s death.
