Cafesjian Centre for the Arts to unveil one of Cascade Complex treasures
Cafesjian Centre for the Arts will be open to all visitors on May 21 during the ‘Night of Museum’ from 10:00am until the midnight. Within the framework of the events special programs, including exhibition openings, educational and creative initiatives are planned.
Also public presentation of Artashes Hovsepyan’s ‘Sasuntsi Davit’ relief (1984-1988) is planned at Sasuntsi Davit Galery of Cafesjian Centre for the Arts within the framework of the ‘Night of Museums’.
By presenting this monumental work, Cafesjian Centre for the Arts unveils one of the treasures of Cascade Complex and pays tribute to the artist celebrating his 85th anniversary this year.
Also, ‘The Landscape of My Country’ exhibition has been organized as part of the educational program, designed for Syrian-Armenian children. This exhibition too will be presented at Sasuntsi Davit Garden Gallery.
The visitors will have the chance to see Robert Elibekian’s ‘Reflections’ exhibition at Eagle Gallery. Two courses for families and teenagers of Spring Carnival educational program based on the exhibition are also planned.
The "Night of Museums" was launched in 2005, with the supported ICOM, UNESCO and the Council of Europe. The purpose of this day is to enhance the role of museums in social and cultural life of society, to create an environment conducive to the popularization of the museum exhibits. This year about 112 active museums are involved in the spring action. On May 21 and on May 18 during the International Museum Day from 18:00pm till midnight museums will be open to all visitors. During these two days, the museums will open their doors and provide the public with diverse and special events, which will once again cast a retrospective look at the long history and cultural heritage of the Armenian people. The purpose of the event is to re-emphasize the value of cultural heritage in the museum environment to synthesize different kinds of art and to provide a pleasant cultural environment.
It should be noted that in 2016 in Armenia the “Night of Museums” event will be held on May 21. It is held on the proposal of one of the oldest international organizations on the field of cultural heritage: that is the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Since 1977 on May 18 “The International Museum Day” brings together more than 30 thousand museums in 5 capitals of the world and calls for activities and takes initiatives in the framework of the proposed theme for the year. Every year a special theme events offered that allows you to emphasize the multifaceted activities of museums. This year's motto is "Museums and cultural landscapes."
