Poor air quality has prompted Mexico City authorities to ban the use of cars with number plates ending with 3, 4, 9 and 0, the commission said on May 20, Sputniknews reports.
According to the source, the residents of the capital city are advised to limit the time spent outdoors.
The agency reminds, that in March, the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis announced that all vehicles, motorcycles and federal plates would have to stop moving one day a week and one Saturday a month starting from April 5 until June 30.
Vehicles of disabled persons, electric and hybrid vehicles, school transport, the vehicles of public security services, civil protection and urban services, among others, were exempt from the regulation.
Mexico City authorities issued an air pollution alert for the first time in 14 years in March amid a high ozone concentration, which can cause heart and lung problems, the source informs.
